Start Things Blooming, Then Keep It Moving… Bone Up On ACL Injury Prevention

It’s spring, and just like the birds, we all want to sing! Well, maybe not ‘sing’, exactly, but certainly celebrate the new season. Make sure to keep that spring in your step by caring for your cruciates. Vulnerable to injury, the ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) is located in the middle of the knee.

SPRING CLEAN YOUR BAD HABITS…Prevent ACL injuries with best practices:

  • Trash the worn-out shoes – buy a pair that fit properly, the right shoe for the activity. Avoid shoes with cleats when playing contact sports. A firm-soled shoe with a soft upper is best for everyday wear.
  • Implement a new training regimen – focus on agility, balance, and power, and include a warm up, stretches (especially the thighs), strengthening exercises, jump training, agility drills, and a cool down.
  • Embrace change – step up your game with new playing techniques, ones keep you from moves that stress vulnerable knees.
